David Abeshouse

David Abeshouse is a retired New York Metro area Business Dispute Resolution Arbitrator, Mediator, and Lawyer. He served as an Arbitrator on the Commercial Panels of Neutrals of the American Arbitration Association, the International Centre for Dispute Resolution, and other forums, carried a caseload as Mediator, occasionally represented parties in Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) proceedings, and acted as ADR Law Consultant to other lawyers. The substantial bulk of his time was spent as a neutral arbitrator and mediator.

Experience

I have arbitrated and mediated diverse business cases derived through multiple sources, including satisfied past clients, many business and legal colleagues, ADR forums, my published writing as well as public speaking engagements, and the internet. I have taught CLE courses in ADR to lawyers, judges, and neutrals; have represented clients in hundreds of varied business arbitrations and mediations over the past three decades; and have served as neutral Arbitrator or Mediator in hundreds of diverse business cases during the past two decades, both through forums as well as privately. I have helped train new and experienced arbitrators and mediators on behalf of the NY State Bar Association. I taught ADR Law as an Adjunct Law Professor at St. John\"s University School of Law several years ago. Matters handled as a neutral have involved numerous closely-held and family businesses with all of the attendant issues that arise when the business owners are related or otherwise involved beyond the business or professional practice, as well as businesses and professional practices ranging from solopreneurs to substantial medium-sized businesses to large multinational corporations.

-- David Abeshouse wrote an article that was published in the November 2015 issue of the Nassau Lawyer, the monthly publication of the Nassau County Bar Association. The article describes a unique non-forum pro se international commercial arbitration proceeding (in which David served as Arbitrator), and is entitled: ’Non-Forum Pro Se Arbitration of International Commercial Dispute: A Unique Case Study.’
-- David Abeshouse wrote an article that was published in the April 2015 issue of the Nassau Lawyer, the monthly publication of the Nassau County Bar Association. The article is entitled, ’Civility in Negotiations: A Tactical Advantage’ and the issue was distributed to 10,000 lawyers in the region.
-- David Abeshouse has written an article that was published by the NY State Bar Association’s “Corporate Counsel Section,” about Alternative Dispute Resolution – it’s entitled:Business Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Provides Fast, Fair, Flexible, Expert, Economical, Private, Customized Justice. It was published in the Fall 2014 issue of the NY State Bar Association’s publication “INSIDE” which is targeted at corporate in-house General Counsel. This is the second article David has written for this publication.
