CCA Protocols for Expeditious, Cost-Effective Commercial Arbitration

In 2008 CCA began planning for a National Summit on Business-to-Business Arbitration to be held the following year in conjunction with CCA’s Annual Meeting in Washington, DC.

Many Fellows, and colleagues from outside the College, worked hard on preparations for this event. The Summit was held on October 30, 2009, was attended by nearly 200 leaders in the major arbitration constituencies – in-house counsel, outside counsel, arbitration providers, and arbitrators – and was a resounding success.

Thereafter, CCA Fellow and nationally recognized arbitration scholar Tom Stipanowich spearheaded the effort to prepare a written document that reflected the insights, conclusions, and recommendations generated by the Summit. We are pleased and honored to make available that document, entitled:

THE COLLEGE OF COMMERCIAL ARBITRATORS PROTOCOLS FOR EXPEDITIOUS, COST-EFFECTIVE COMMERCIAL ARBITRATION: Key Action Steps for Business Users, Counsel, Arbitrators & Arbitration Provider Institutions.

The National Summit and CCA’s publication of the resulting Protocols represent major achievements in fulfillment of CCA’s Mission to promote the highest standards of professionalism, best practices, and peer training and development in commercial arbitration. The College of Commercial Arbitrators acknowledges and thanks to the following sponsors of the National Summit and resulting Protocols:

  • American Arbitration Association
  • JAMS Arbitration and Mediation
  • American Bar Association Section on Dispute Resolution
