I am a practicing attorney and an experienced arbitrator and mediator. Before entering private practice, I was a law professor and held senior positions at the Department of Energy. I have negotiated and drafted contracts for industrial projects, including the principal contract documents for national manufacturers and design/build contractors, resolved numerous contract disputes between owners, contractors and specialty subcontractors, represented parties in lawsuits over major commercial and industrial projects and civil works, written manuals on contract law and authored articles and book chapters on dispute resolution.

Experience

I have arbitrated and settled in mediation hundreds of construction and commercial disputes on private and public sector projects in the United States and abroad. These disputes have included the construction of power plants, petrochemical plants, co-generation facilities, industrial and commercial facilities including airports, aircraft manufacture, automobile manufacturing, food manufacturing, hospitals, hotels, overseas consulates, public utilities including water and sewage treatment, civil works including crane collapse, roads and bridges, offices, high-rise residential, HUD residential projects, restaurants, churches, libraries, educational buildings, laboratories and athletic facilities, parks and recreational facilities, historic buildings, including the United States Supreme Court,, the National Cathedral, and an historic state court house, marine facilities, shopping centers, resorts, highways and bridges, oil-field services, missile defense systems, military installations, federal buildings, government service contracts, and the acquisition of companies, the dissolution of joint ventures, supply chain disputes, equipment leasing and franchise agreements.
