Experience

Mr. Matthews has served as an arbitrator or an advocate in more than 500 arbitrations. Cases have been conducted under the auspices of AAA, ICDR, ICSID, ICC, CPR NASD (now FINRA) and other dispute resolution forums. He has also conducted numerous ad hoc arbitration proceedings. He has served as advocate and arbitrator in class arbitrations under the Special Class Arbitration Rules of the American Arbitration Association.

DOMESTIC; 40 years of experience as advocate and more than 25 as arbitrator. Cases have included disputes involving business matters, partnerships, mergers and acquisitions, contract, construction, professional liability, employment relations, securities, business fraud, consumer fraud, health care, insurance and reinsurance, intellectual property, technology, class actions and personal injuries.

INTERNATIONAL - 25 years of experience as advocate and arbitrator. Cases include investment treaty arbitration, international commercial arbitration under all the major international arbitration forums and teaching international arbitration in Europe, Asia and North America, including advanced seminars in international arbitration and dispute resolution at the National University of Mongolia (2006) and University of Dundee, Scotland (2009).

He is a Florida Supreme Court Certified Circuit Mediator and is also certified by the Centre for Effective Dispute Resolution (CEDR).
