Experience

Mr. Morril’s experience covers a wide range of complex commercial disputes, including those concerning transactions and post-closing adjustments, insurance coverage, distribution agreements, joint ventures and partnerships, intellectual property, entertainment and media, technology, telecom and energy. He is experienced in the major institutional rules and as an ad hoc arbitrator. He has been designated to a number of specialty panels on institutional rosters, including the Large and Complex Commercial Disputes and Master Mediator Panels of the AAA/ICDR and the General Counsel, Deal Facilitation and Employment Disputes Panels of CPR.

Work History

Prior to becoming a full-time arbitrator and mediator, Mr. Morril was General Counsel of Simon & Schuster, then the world’s largest English-language publisher, and Deputy General Counsel of the global media company ViacomCBS, with television, motion picture and related businesses, as well as the very significant legacy industrial operations of Gulf+Western and Westinghouse Corporation. Mr. Morril was the senior disputes lawyer at ViacomCBS, with responsibility for the world-wide litigation and ADR docket, and managed the 275-lawyer law department. Earlier in his career, he was a law firm litigation partner, worked in public policy, and was a judicial law clerk.
