College of Commercial Arbitrators Announces Associates Selected for Inaugural Mentorship Program

The CCA Associates Program Aims to Increase Diversity in the Alternative Dispute Resolution Field

AUSTIN, TX – The College of Commercial Arbitrators has completed selection of its first class of “CCA Associates.” The CCA initiated the Associates Program to assist arbitrators from diverse backgrounds with their efforts to develop a commercial arbitration practice.

“We received a very strong response to our announcement regarding the CCA Associates Program,” said CCA president, Mark Heley.  “We were overwhelmed by the level of interest and high quality of applicants.  This initial group of CCA Associates shares the CCA’s standards of ethics and professional conduct.” he added.

In total, 32 candidates submitted applications for the rare opportunity.  From this group, the CCA selected the first class of three CCA Associates.  The individuals selected for this initial class of the CCA mentorship program come from New York, Denver and San Francisco.  They are:

  • Lisa D. Love, a co-managing partner in New York City, who is a commercial transactions attorney with nearly 40 years of experienced handling sophisticated domestic and international commercial transactions.
  • Scott Leonard Evans, an attorney in Denver, Colorado who has tried over 30 trials as sole trial counsel and as first chair of a trial team.
  • Jiyun Cameron Lee, a partner at Folger Levin LLP of San Francisco, California who has spent 30 years in commercial litigation.

All CCA Associates also have an active alternative dispute resolution (ADR) practice of some sort but less than five years of experience serving as a commercial arbitrator.  Each of these newly selected CCA Associates will have the opportunity to participate in CCA Activities and educational programs for the next two years. The CCA believes that this opportunity assists arbitrators from historically underrepresented backgrounds advance their commercial arbitration practice through education, mentorship and visibility.

The CCA, a professional, collegial organization established in 2001, celebrates and advocates excellence in the field of commercial arbitration – in the US and internationally.
